North Carolina Child Care Tax Campaign
Washington, DC – Bipartisan child care group First Five Action is ramping up its $3 million campaign focused on including an expanded Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC) in the reconciliation package as it enters final negotiations in the Senate. The CDCTC is the only tax credit that directly offsets child care costs for working parents.
The campaign will include a new wave of polling, TV ads, direct mail, and more across North Carolina urging Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) to secure inclusion of the CDCTC in the “Big Beautiful Bill” in his role on the Senate Finance Committee.
The CDCTC hasn’t been updated since 2001—when child care cost just $3,500 a year—and only provides parents about $500 in relief. The campaign is working to ensure Congress includes updates to the CDCTC in their final tax package, which would give parents of two kids a $2,800 child care tax break. Read more about that here.
The North Carolina Campaign:
- 6 figure cable TV buy in the Raleigh and Charlotte Media Markets targeting conservative voters on Fox News
- Statewide direct mail campaign targeting GOP primary voters and general election swing voters encouraging them to contact Senator Tillis
- Six figure statewide digital ad campaign including social media ads and streaming service ads reminding voters NOW is the time to encourage Sen. Tillis to make child care more affordable.
This ad will be running on Fox News across the state, urging Tillis to “ensure the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit is expanded in The One Big Beautiful Bill.”
